PS2 Emulator - DamonPS2 - PPSSPP PS2 PSP PS2 Emu PS2 Android Ps2 PPSSPP PSP DamonPS2 PS2 PCSX, although a ground-breaking emulator in its day, is now long out of development, kaisho. Here is the How To Guide from the website. You will need to set it up before you can start gaming. Grab the download from the Box File Widget or head over to the PCSX2 Mac homepage. This is a port of the Windows Playstation 2 emulator PCSX2. While checking out SpeedofMac I stumbled on this Playstation 2 Emulator for Mac OSX.Atari Jaguar Replacement System BIOS Kit - Revision M. It hasn't been updated in nearly four years even the PSEmu plugins are rarely updated now.ROM (BIOS for Atari 400/800 PAL). Play is an high-level emulator.EPSXe is also getting a little long in the tooth, although it still holds its own. Just pop in your favorite games disc and have fun No BIOS required. The focus of the project is on making PlayStation2 emulation easy and accessible. What is Play PS2 Emulator Play is a portable PlayStation2 emulator.Apart from controller setup, you can run it pretty much 'out of the box.'There's also a very useful adjunct to it available on pSX forum too one of the admins there has produced his Ultima's pSX Frontend (). You do want to install libgtkglext1 first, though. You just play.In addition, it's very easy to install - just untar it to a folder, add a BIOS to taste - and games , images or CDs of course, and go. What I really like about it, though, is its 'transparency' - in other words, as happens when you're playing on a Playstation, it doesn't interpose itself between you and the game. The developer, pSX Author, posted the first (and so far only) Linux version about three months back, and it's superb. It aims at accuracy of emulation rather than enhancement, unlike emulators such as ePSXe and PCSX, which can be a revelation in itself. I've just come from the pSX forum ()) is pSX.
Three clicks.Increase the latency in the Sound tab that may not make the 'sound: underrun' messages go away, but generally fixes the sound problems.Don't forget that 1.11 is actually the first Linux release of pSX, and that was released after less than a month of WIP testing by pSX forum members. Exit the emulator, start a new game from the Frontend. It's no more hassle to exit the emulator and restart it for a new game than to change discs - since you'll probably want to change memory cards as well, possibly BIOS (in which case you'd have to restart anyway) and controller type, the easiest way is to set them up in Ultima's pSX Frontend. Play one game, eject it and start another), but no problems changing discs within a game. Again, just untar it into the pSX folder and go.Incidentally, a member here, dfreer, has started maintaining installation packages () for pSX and Ultima's pSX Frontend. It's a good idea to do File -> Eject CD before loading a new image or CD.FWIW I've had problems doing this with a completely different game (i.e. External cd driver for a macI actually do have some minor beefs with pSX (though some may be my computer and not pSX itself-one I am fairly sure is neither my computer nor pSX, but my keyboard). There are many other instances, I am sure, that enhancing emulators might be and are chosen over transparent ones (pSX).Personally, I chose pSX because I don't want to waste time mucking around finding which plugins go where and what will work best with my hardware, yadda yadda. First, there's gruffy's example-playing his PAL games at 60FPS, rather than 50, is less of what you call an "enhancement" and more of what you call "accuracy" (getting it to play at the frame rate it would normally have played at, had it been released in the USA or Japan). I don't know what ePSXe's first Linux release was like, since I wasn't using Linux then, but was that better than pSX' first release?Acousticbop, I disagree. ![]() Emulator Forum Full Screen OrI've never played on another emulator where you get into playing the game so much, rather than into playing the emulator. Are you using a monitor with a different aspect ratio than 4:3? Because pSX has always kept its aspect ratio to 4:3 for me, full screen or windowed.Hey, some of my friends have games that are just hard to find anymore, PAL or NTSC. The reason I changed to pSX wasn't because it was easy to configure, but because of its transparency. If you want to play a game accurately at 60 fps, get an NTSC version.Actually, I always rather enjoyed messing about with finding plugins for ePSXe and configuring them. A PAL game is meant to play at 50 fps. XDBut playing a game differently to the way it was meant to play on an emulator is enhancement, not accuracy, Sarteck. They're just happy that they can play their old games.Continuing in that vein, when some of these people find out that they can make the game look better, play faster, sound nicer, etc., how can anyone fault them for wanting to do so? I know I'd like to make MY gameplay experience as comfortable as possible (I wrap up in a blanket and shout for my girlfriend to bring me cup after cup of coffee, though, instead of fiddling with plugins). You're thinking that such is "playing the emulator," but it's not. NOT because the emulator can do this extra bit, or because it can do that extra bit, or whatever. By and large though, most people using emulators do so because they want to play the game. Sure, there are a few individuals out there who are obsessive over their emulators (and I really don't see anythign particularly wrong with that, it's just different). "Enhancement" emulators give us the option to play those games at the "correct" FPS.I don't know where the "playing the emulator" kick came from, but it's something I just don't agree with. I think a large part of the reason why pSX Author made an emulator that's around accurate rather than enhanced emulation is because of the artifacts that enhancement inevitably introduces. XD So I usually end up going full screen for a while. But pSX is not intended as an enhancing emulator, Sarteck. I don't know why, it just pisses me off. Wait, let me give you a screenshot so you know what I mean. This one might be normal, but I don't know, y'see? That may be the correct aspect ratio, or it might be skewed: ()Therefore, since I am not sure if it's skewed or not. I need a Humour Plugin.).As for aspect ratio, I'm guessing 16:10 (because when I use fullscreen and set that as my aspect ratio, I seem to get the picture closest to what it's supposed to be). XD But that, too, is just an opinion (and meant in the spirit of jest, I'd better say, just in case-my humour sometimes gets lost on the Internet. Bluetooth headset for skype on macNot that that will help - the only Linux ones are ePSXe and PCSX and they're both long out of development. You haven't answered my question, though - what is your monitor aspect ratio? Also, what desktop resolution are you using? As I've said, I've never had these problems with windows distorting in pSX, in Linux or in Windows, and nor do other people. That isn't pSX Author's problem - complain to the enhancing emulator developers. Not that that will have the slightest effect.Your real complaint is not with pSX, but that enhancing emulators are not easier to install and configure, and don't run as well as pSX. If you don't like that, don't complain here, complain to pSX Author in the pSX forum. Playing the emulator," I was referring to the way that the constant little slowdowns and artifacts in enhancing emulators tend to distract from the game and make you think about the emulator instead. Until you answer those questions, we can't deal with the problem.BTW by "playing the game.
